Ok so I just did a tune up on my 92, spark plugs and air filter and now I get 13 mpg, I also adjusted my tps sensor correctly. Before I did it it was running just fine but now I get terrible gas mileage. Now it idles like shit and dies sometimes. But sometimes when I stop at a light it'll idle like shit then all of a sudden it'll idle like it should. Any ideas?

Sset the tps back to where it was maybe. Run some injector cleaner perhaps

It probably does not like being worked on.:)

If it was ok before, what you have done should not hurt it, so I would just go back over all the work, look for wires/plugs that may have been moved. Check all the pipes around where you were, see if they are all right. Make sure that the plug on the Mass Air Flow is in properly.

It was getting bad gas mileage before but not this bad, I had ran a full tank of gas with injector cleaner a couple of days ago, could it be the plugs I used? I tried out the ngk G power plugs, they give me more power but bad gas mileage. I adjusted the tps after I noticed the idle, so forgot to mention I even cleaned the maf,I'll check out the wires and pipes tomorrow morning and let you guess know. I had something like this happen right when I first did my engine swap, how fast would the idle control valve go bad?

Ok so I took a look and nothing's lose or off, although I hear a whistling coming from the tube under the cover where the PVC is. Gonna take the intake off when I get time and replace it. But tonight I noticed my head lights dim when at idle and brighten when I hit the gas, anyone know how to test the alternator?

If you have a multimeter while it is idling you could put the pos lead on the top post of the alt and see what the volts are.

I believe they should be 13.5 or better but dont hold me to that.

At idle it's charging at 14.18v with nothing on. With lights radio and heater on high it 13.40. But it starts slowly so I'll check back in with what that battery is at after sitting 8 hours

I would say alt is going out.

I heard about a place in texas think it is called maniac motors they rebuild svx alts they also offer higher output if you have big stereo or other electrical need.

I would say that the battery and the alternator are OK.

What do you mean by a "slow starter"?

The starter turns the engine vary slowly. It just bearly starts

have you pulled the starter and tested it?
sounds like the starter is bad.

on a completely unrelated note my grandfather lived/lives in fox lake.:)
