Fellow SVX enthusiasts:

It's sad but it has to be done. Last month I downsized to a small place on the beach, and now I need to sell a car. The SVX lost to the 30yr old Volvo, and only because that carries my boards. Besides, having an SVX at the beach is immoral.

Please see my craigslist ad: http://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/cto/2973331451.html
More pictures at:

http://www.fquick.com/garages/viewgallery.php?albumid=1&carid=46592

Mention Budfreak and I take an instant $200 off the asking price. That's the return for the service this forum has provided; not to mention of course Budfreak himself, who put in the 4.44 transmission and Quick Change unit.

The car is waiting under a sleeve. Please get this car back in a garage!

Do you take off the passenger seat headrest? Windsurf boards tend to be a bit longer than wave surfboards. I tried to take off the headrest but couldn't. If I can get that headrest off, I may sell the old Volvo instead and keep my excellent SVX.

Yes it comes off. There is a very small clip you must press right at the spot where the tube in the seat and post meet the seat. Hard to find keep looking.

Sometimes headrests get rusted in place and won't slide up and down and come out like they're supposed to.

Someone in this group came to test drive the car last weekend. He did not buy it because the (4.44) transmission is GOOD. He was hoping for everything else as good as it is but with a bad transmission, so that he can drop in a manual gearbox.

I am dropping the asking price to $3000.

By the way I did get the headrest off based on your tips. That means I can put the board inside!

If my 1982 manual Volvo turbo sells first (also $3000 asking price) I will gladly hold on to my SVX.

And it will look so Beach Boys with the board hanging out the back of the SVX . Easier to find a Volvo than another cherry SVX. Do you still have the name of the member ? I have a great car for him already with a WRX trany 5 speed manual for $3,000.

Crazy:You are telling me this guy wants to  6speed a SVX? HE better look hard for a good SVX . They aint cheap to do. Would be a shame to convert to a 6 speed and then up with problems.  Converting to a 5 speed is  expensive and time consuming  enough . There you have a few tranny choices and they are  relatively easy to find in salvage yards.
Also would be a shame to rip apart a pristine SVX in good running order. To each his own I guess.

Is this car still for sale?
Some guy saw my car at a pizza joint and asked if it was for sale?
I told him there are quite a few out there . He said not like yours. Most he
Looked at we're junk. I thought of yours and was wondering if it sold yet
I don't want him getting to excited and not be able to look at it.
